Text description provided by the architects. Ukrainian authenticity combined with contemporary design and architecture are frequent requests from our clients. We believe that respect for the past is the guarantee of a conscious future. MAKHNO studio shares this philosophy, that is why we tried to reveal Ukrainian ethnicity once again in the Vyshyto house. Maintaining a balance between national self-perfection and modern visual solutions. Creating our own unique ornament. In this house, the importance of contemporary Ukrainian style of MAKHNO studio, past and present intertwined, and what is very important, the energy of the clients, such as the ornament on the central box, which is repeated throughout the house, and the iconic Khmara hanging lamps create the illusion of a sky-like atmosphere. Vyshyto is the home of a large Ukrainian family consisting of a father, mother and four children. The family cherishes the national heritage, which is why they wanted to see it firmly woven into the DNA of their future home. This becomes evident from the first acquaintance with the house.
Authentic colours attract the guests’ eyes and tell their little stories. We emphasized this with the ornament and our Dido, which protects the house from bad energy. The entrance hall is decorated with a Coral reef table from MAKHNO Studio. Inspired by the shape of the coral reef, it allows you to comfortably probe the surface, leaving, for example, the guests’ belongings there. The walls of the living room are decorated with authentic Ukrainian works of art. The large room is full of national objects, old sequins, didukhs and interesting exhibits. The colour scheme of the entrance hall and living room reproduces the colours of national clothes: white and red. Wooden lampshades add to the space the spirit of nature, an important component of Ukrainian culture. The unique composition of our Khmara lamps prevents incidents and creates a warm atmosphere of a family circle.
On the same floor is the room of one of the sons, who is captivated by the collection of stones. We tried to create an atmosphere that would fully meet his interests. The charming Makivka lamp dissolves the light from its bottomless holes and strongly breaks the level of the line of the room. The walls visually move thanks to our award-winning 3D Tetrapod tiles. Near the bed hangs our Lakuna lamp. It gives the room a pleasant asceticism, which reliably hides in the morning. In the entrance area of the room of another son, we also used 3D Tetrapod tiles in a turquoise shade. Going down the stairs, you will meet the giant Dido Isho. He is the boy’s best friend and reliable guardian. On the ceiling is the beautiful Kvitka – a lamp that we grow in our studio. With its warm light, Kvitka saturates spring comfort for a whole year
The wall next to the bed is decorated with Naruto’s favorite heroes, lamps from the Crust series, which also came out of our studio. The unique national ornament is delicately closed by rifle stairs leading to the second floor. The other nursery retains its commitment to pure white color. The walls are decorated with our FlapJack tiles. Its 3D lacquered texture adds a large volume, deepening the room. In the bed area, we installed Sopilka lamps from our studio. They charm the room with a soft harmony of warm light. The neighboring room with a large wood on the wall is a spacious children’s living room. The transit area on the other side of the house could go unnoticed. But we decided not to hide the stairs, but, on the contrary, to create something bright. That is why the designer tube became an expressive source of lighting. These steps lead to an atmospheric bookcase. Here, straight lines and wood colors, which are visible even in the wardrobe rails, are present. A special atmosphere is added by the Drozh tiles, developed by our studio. If you find the right book, a comfortable chair near a large window will become a real friend for many hours.
Then the vast room was expanded and divided into several functional areas. At the entrance there is a shelf and a cabinet for the master’s collectibles. A comfortable sofa near the central fireplace serves as a resting area on which hangs the custom Khmara clay lamp in gray color. In the center is a unique architectural structure made of stone plaster. As if the wind from the frigate hangs a stone fabric around the room and warms the comfort of the flame dances of the fireplace. “It may seem that the design is refined in the air, but the process of its implementation was extremely difficult. The premise could have retained its function without “wind”, but the efforts made were fully justified visually, giving the room the necessary accents of freedom.”
Next to the window overlooking the terrace is a work area, because the natural light from the window creates perfect insulation and makes the work process as pleasant as possible, because the natural light from the window, which comes to the garden, adds to the thoughts of clarity. While the family is out of the house, Dido from the table takes care of keeping her things. In the middle of the wooden shelves there is a black column. An interesting, matte relief texture only emphasizes the bold brutality of the architectural solution. In addition, it is also a cozy room with a pile spacer. While waiting for the owners to be home, Dido from the table takes care of keeping her things. The natural light from the window, which comes to the garden, adds to the thoughts of clarity.
